Bakuchiol is a plant-based alternative to retinol. Here's why you need it.

Every few years in the beauty world, there's a whole lot of buzz around a particular ingredient and it becomes the MUST-HAVE ingredient in skincare. Right now, that ingredient is Bakuchiol (pronouced Ba-koo-chi-oll) and it lives up to the hype.

It's extracted from bakuchi seed oil (a plant that grows in India), and it has been scientifically proven to have the same effects as retinol on the skin - without any of the irritating side effects. That's major.

So it:

- reduces hyperpigmentation

- stimulates cell turnover

- reduces fine line and wrinkles

- stimulates collagen growth

- reduces the incidence of acne

Up until now the only real anti-aging product out there agreed by dermatologists has been retinol and retin-A based products. But they come with side effects like peeling skin, sun sensitivity (you always must wear SPF with a retinol product) and you can't use them while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Most people use a retinol product once every few days because that's what their skin can handle, but Bakuchiol products can be used every day - morning and night. It's also safe to use with other products - actives and things like exfoliants or acids.

That's why it's one of the key ingredients in our seriously incredible new product VIBRANT SKIN face oil, which not only has Bakuchiol, but also a potent sea greens blend (seaweed and seakale is loaded with nutrients) and 19 different superfood oils to feed your skin full of antioxidants to build and nourish your skin from within.
