Oh it's a freaking weird year, right? How we've managed to make it to September is beyond me. But time keeps passing, as it always does. Feeling for those in Victoria mostly, and everyone else until things start to get back to normal. Here's how me and a few others are being kind to themselves.
What are you doing to be nice to yourself lately? Let us know in the comments.
"I've started playing tennis once a week with my husband. I've never played tennis in my life! But I am loving doing a sport again, running for the ball, watching my shots improve week by week. It's so much fun and it's loads of fun playing with him. It's our little time out together. Also gin. A gin on Friday night helps too. I'm doing a bunch of face masks and really massaging Vibrant Skin face oil in afterwards with the Recreation jade gua sha - both of which I'm addicted to. The whole routine takes a load of stress out of my face and neck. And I'm using the body + hair oil all over because it's just so damn luxurious and I definitely feel like we're missing out on luxury right now." - Nedahl from @recreationbeauty
"My two things I do to treat myself is to go for a walk. I am lucky enough to live by the ocean, so I try and make sure I get outside and see the water and stretch my legs everyday. My other favourite way to treat myself is my Friday night glass of red wine!" Jordy from @centennialbeauty
"The main way I'm "treating myself" these days is taking time to unwind every night. I'll workout, take a hot shower and then light some candles, get in bed with my dog and watch Gossip Girl! Lol" Lauren from @centennialbeauty
"Baths have always been a special self care time but have recently become an extended ritual. I load them up with Epsom salts and fragrant oils and then bring in a book to read or my laptop to watch a movie. 2 hours later, I’m still in there, every once in a while letting out water and replacing it with a hot top up. The more wrinkled the skin gets the better!
Earthing has become so important to me with the chaotic energy going on in the world. Just going down to the garden every day, putting my bare feet on the grass and doing some meditation is so healing. When things feel really overwhelming, I lie on the grass on my belly and imagine the earth drawing all the stress out and into the core of the planet, transmuting the energy to love“ - Tanja Gacic from @myempiricallife
"My life became a whole lot busier and there still isn’t much downtime, so I have found myself drawn to beauty products that are very aromatic and make my morning ritual of getting ready enjoyable. Creams, candles and oils definitely helped calm my farm.
I try to enjoy the daily ritual of putting on my face as this was something I still did everyday through lockdown, I’d even put on a red LIPPIE to take the washing out. I found this really important for my own mental health, to still get ready everyday and put on my armour.
I love burning an essential oil and trying lot of different skin creams mainly based around natural ingredients that have an incredible spa like smell.
Investing in home spa products are a really simple way to life your mood for your whole household." Natalie Wakeling from @embodywomen
"Long hot showers at night (without any kids in the bathroom) is a MUST. (Sometimes ends up being very late at night!) Clears my head. Followed by my fave body oil. Honestly so relaxing at night! And leave on face mask to sleep." - Talia Maltz from @honourapparel
