The big picture

Summer has brought with it hot winds, searing temperatures and an unprecedented bushfire season. I couldn't sit here writing an ordinary beauty story without letting you know how affected we have been through all of this because it's really not business as usual. Everyone, us included, are doing as much as we can to help the bushfire relief and help the Rural Fire Service through this truly horrific time.

We donated 100% of our profits from Jan 5. We have personally donated extra $$$ to help and we have dropped off everyday supplies like nappies, toothbrushes, toilet paper, juice and just stuff that families who are left with nothing might need at our local collection point at Bondi.

We truly urge you to think about your actions and how they affect the planet. While we can all do small things every day to stop polluting the planet and increasing carbon emissions, the main thing we can all do is VOTE. Because it's the big businesses whose emissions make up the majority of carbon dioxide in the world.

Vote with your dollars: move your electricity to a greener option. Try and use companies who have a sustainable program in place. Buy products from companies who are trying their best to make a difference because this will in turn push bigger companies to have greener policies, sustainable packaging and a carbon offset program. Anything we can do to push bigger companies to be more responsible, less driven by profit and more driven to the greater good of putting HUMANITY before MONEY is the key.

And then vote - at the elections - for a government with a clear climate change plan. A government who will listen to the people who voted for them. This issue is not going away. It's only going to get worse. If it's this bad now, what will it be like in 20 years?

This is why when launching RECREATIONBondiBeach things like sustainable packaging and using natural ingredients was important to us. It's important because it actually does make a difference. If every company thought about their environmental impact we'd be in a very different place.

The good news is that it's not too late - if we act now and make our governments act. International commentators are now saying this may be the wake up call that certainly Australia, if not the world, actually needs. Remember everything has a flow on effect. If we do it, we can encourage other people to do it. Every person makes a difference.

Peace xx
